Connect Wireless Windows XP Client with EAP

[edit] Connect Windows XP Client Computer with PEAP Authentication

[edit] Setup Local Area Connection Network

Click on the Start menu and open the Control Panel. Open Network Connections.

Right click on Wireless Network Connection and select Properties.

Click on the Wireless Networks tab and click Add....

Note: Windows XP SP3 must be installed in order to have PEAP support.


Enter linksys_n as the Network name (SSID). Then select WPA2 for Network Authentication and AES for Data encryption.

Click on the Authentication tab. Select Protected EAP (PEAP) as the EAP type. Make sure the checkboxes below are unchecked. Then click on the Properties button.

Select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) as the Authentication Method. Turn on Enable Fast Reconnect and then click on the Configure... button.

Make sure that Automatically use my Windows logon name and passowrd (and domain if any) is unchecked.

Keep clicking OK until you see the above window. Ensure that linksys_n (Automatic) is showing in the list. Then press OK.

You should get a pop-up balloon from the taskbar asking you to Click here to select a certificate or other credentials for connection to the network linksys_n. Click on this notification.

Enter 8021xusers@wcgwifilabs.local as the User name and the appropriate password, Radius01. Leave Logon domain blank. Then press OK.

You should get another pop-up balloon from the taskbar asking you to Click here to process your logon information for the network linksys_n. Click on this notification.

A window will pop-up to validate the server certificate. Click on the OK button.

You are now connected to the network!

[edit] Confirmation of PEAP Authenticated Connection

Try to ping the Radius Sever on the address of 192.168.0.5 to verify the connection between PEAP CLIENT1 and wireless router and the authentication channel between CLIENT1 computer and Radius Server are effective connected.
